The 144th U.S. Open continues Friday and will run throughout the weekend until a champion is crowned. Justin Rose took home the title last year and opens up this years open at 28-1 odds to take home a second. Other players looking to take the title away from Rose are the usually suspects when it comes to majors.

After the first round Martin Kaymer comes out on top with a 3-stroke lead on the field. Phil Mickelson and Brandt Snedeker had an early play on the lead but both fell of the pace on the back end of their round. Mickelson sits at even par and Snedeker sits at 1-under. Kaymer broke away from the pack when he birdied three of his last five holes to head into the clubhouse with a score of 5-under.
