Prosecutors have submitted as many as 272 pieces of evidence to Aaron Hernandez's attorneys related to his recent indictment on double murder charges.

Hernandez is charged in the 2012 drive-by slayings of Safiro Furtado and Daniel de Abreu outside a downtown bar in Boston, which investigators say was sparked by one of the men accidentally spilling a drink on the former New England Patriots tight end and not apologizing.

FoxSports.com also reported a grand jury convened to hear evidence in the case met as many as 24 times before reaching their decision. The website added the investigation was somewhat stalled by Hernandez also being charged in the execution style-killing of one-time associate Odin Lloyd last June. Police have publicly speculated Hernandez may have killed Lloyd because of his knowledge about other violent crimes he is suspected of having been involved in.

Since being held without bail and confined to solitary confinement in the Bristol County Jail in the Lloyd case, Hernandez has also been charged with threatening to kill a prison guard and his family and was also briefly moved to an even more secluded area of the facility after attacking a fellow inmate while the man was still handcuffed.
