John Cena suffered an eye injury on Saturday night during a WWE live event in Madison, Wis. during a match with Bray Wyatt and the company had to change its plans for the following night's event in Rochester, Minn. as a result.

Pressure On WWE Champ Daniel Bryan To Return?

According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, Cena hurt his eye during his match with Wyatt when Wyatt was head-butting him a few minutes into the contest in the corner. It appeared as though one of the strikes from Wyatt hit Cena too hard in the eye, causing it to swell.

Cena immediately told the referee he was hurt and the ref put his arms in an "X" symbol to alert the people backstage that it was a legitimate injury. Trainers then came out and checked on Cena. The match was eventually re-started but limited as Cena's eye was closed and they spent the rest of the match protecting it.

Rey Mysterio Possibly Taking Legal Action Against The WWE

According to reports, Cena's eye was swollen shut and looked even worse on Sunday morning. Cena was set to face Wyatt again Sunday night in Minnesota, but the WWE opted to change the match to the entire Wyatt Family against Cena and The Usos in a six-man tag team match as a way to protect the injury.

There was some initial worry that Cena may have a concussion, but the fact that the WWE was able to put him in the match with The Usos against The Wyatt Family means that he should be fine aside from the injury to the eye.

Cena's role for the upcoming Money in the Bank event on June 29 hasn't been defined, and he may be limited on Monday's RAW due to the injury, but it seems him wrestling Sunday night just 24 hours after sustaining the injury is a good sign that he won't need to miss time.

Adam Rose was also hurt at Saturday night's event when he sustained a severe cut above his eye during his match with Heath Slater. The referee had to put rubber gloves on to attend to Rose while trainers came out to clean up the blood.

Saturday night was a rough one for Rose and Cena, but the two should be fine to compete going forward.
