This one is for the whole tournament ad Sharapova will face off against Halep on a surface that she is is historically very good on. Sharapova won the 2012 French Open and lost in the finals in 2013 so this is just another day at the park for her.
The two women have only met on clay once and it was earlier this year. Halep jumped out and stunned Sharapova 6-1 in the first set only to have her storm back to take the final two sets 6-2, 6-3. Sharapova should pull this one out at the end as she is very good on clay even though Halep is as well. Sharapova has come this close and lost before, I don't think she can let it happen twice.
Sharapova treats the French Open like her backyard and is as close to Rafael Nadal as any woman could be on clay. Sharapova will not let herself come so close just to go home empty handed again.
Sharapova has never lost to Halep. She is 3-0 against the Romanian.
