The Utah Jazz will tap Quin Snyder as its new coach, replacing Ty Corbin whose contract was not renewed after a 25-57 season.

Sportando.com is reporting that Snyder will take over the young Jazz, becoming the eight head coach in franchise history. He has plied his trade in the NBA, NBA D-League as well as in Europe.

Jazz president Randy Rigby said they were disciplined in conducting the coaching hiring process, and that they are happy to have hired Snyder.

Prior to his appointment, Snyder was an assistant coach for the Atlanta Hawks. He was also head coach of the Austin Toros in the NBA D-League from 2007-2010. He also coached the University of Missouri Tigers from 1999 to 2006, leading the team to a respectable 128-96 record and four NCAA Tournaments. In 2002, he led the team to an Elite Eight appearance.

In the NBA, Snyder has been an assistant coach for the Lakers, Sixers, and Clippers.

In a statement, Jazz GM Dennis Lindsey said: "Quin Snyder combines a unique skillset with several intangibles that makes him the right fit for our team and approach to basketball. He is passionate about the game and has a 20-year track record of teaching and developing young talent. His personality, work ethic and communications skills are important traits that will benefit the Utah Jazz. We have taken a significant and exciting step forward in the evolution of this franchise."

Snyder will be inheriting a young core led by guard Gordon Hayward and forward Derrick Favors.
