John Calipari Salary: Kentucky Coach Signs $52.5M Deal, Lakers Officially Out of the Picture [VIDEO]

John Calipari’s name can be crossed off any potential NBA coaching search as the high profile coach has agreed to a new seven-year contract that will earn him $52.5 million. The Lakers had been rumored to had been interested in Calipari before the extension, but nothing ever came of it.

Calipari released a statement on the extension and echoed what he had said all along that there is no place he would rather be.

I'd like to thank Mitch (Barnhart) and Dr. Capilouto for their commitment to me, my family and the basketball staff. I've said over and over that I have the best job in the country. With the continued support from our administration and the greatest, craziest, fans in college basketball, we have accomplished a lot in our five quick years, but we still have lofty goals for the future. We want to continue to help young people and their families reach their dreams, while at the same time maintaining our success on the basketball court, in the classroom and in the community.

In his five seasons at Kentucky, Calipari has put out a fantastic program year in and year out. In his time at Kentucky, he has a 152-37 (.804) record, lead the Wildcats to three Final Fours and a national championship during the 2011-12 season.

As long as Calipari mans the bench with the Wildcats, they are a contender to win the national championship. Calipari has shown that he is one of the best in tyne country at recruiting and now has a contract that is only surpassed by Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski.
