Phil Jackson may have been fined $25,000 for tampering with Thunder guard Derek Fisher, but that hasn't stopped the Zen Master from pursuing the veteran to be the next coach of the New York Knicks. Jackson has scheduled a meeting with Fisher to discuss the position and to try to convince him to give up playing for coaching.

The reports of Jackson and Fisher meeting is no surprise as Jackson all but put the Knicks' head coaching search on hold once he missed out on new Golden State Warriors’ coach Steve Kerr. Many believe that Fisher wants to return to playing with the Thunder, but could find the allure of coaching the Knicks too good an opportunity to pass up.

Fisher is just getting out of another rough postseason in which the Thunder were eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs in six games. Fisher told local reports Sunday that he hadn't even thought about a life after basketball yet.

"I'm still struggling with the results of [the series]," Fisher said "I haven't [had] a chance to talk to my wife and kind of step back emotionally from the end of the season. That's important to do, so that whatever is next, there has to be a separation from the end of the season and what just happened and then I can go from there.”

Fisher and Jackson have a long standing relationship together as Jackson coached Fisher on the Los Angeles Lakers. Fisher is an 18-year veteran and was with paired with Jackson for 12 of those 18. Seeing how Jackson did not interview another candidate while waiting for Fisher to become available, it looks like Phil is going Fisher or bust as his first coach.
