The WWE presented Payback 2014 live from the Allstate Arena in Illinois on Sunday night, and one of the major developments in the storylines saw Brie Bella quit the oganization during an in-ring segment.

A Look Back At SWN's WWE Payback Predictions

Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley had presented WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan with the ultimatum to either hand over the title or Bella would be fired, and instead Bella announced that she was quitting so that Bryan wouldn't have to make the tough choice. Bella then slapped McMahon.

Bella tweeted after the show.

"Tonight at #WWEPayback I made the hardest decision, but there's no way I could of watched my husband @WWEDanielBryan hand over those titles to that brat @stephaniemcmahon .....it hurt to say the words I quit, but felt great to feel my hand across Steph's face. #payback is a b!tch! #briemode," she wrote.

In the two main event matches, John Cena defeated Bray Wyatt in a Last Man Standing match after Cena crashed Wyatt through a production box and Wyatt was unable to answer the count while The Shield defeated Evolution in a No Holds Barred elimination six-man tag match. The last segment of the match saw Roman Reigns hit Triple H with the spear and count him down for the three.

Conflicting Reports On Daniel Bryan's Return

All three champions retained their titles as Sheamus held onto the United States Championship after blindsiding Cesaro with a rollup, Bad News Barrett defeated Rob Van Dam with the Bullhammer to retain the Intercontinental Championship and Paige won over Alicia Fox with the Scorpion Cross Lock to hang onto the Divas Championship.

In other matches, Ryback and Curtis Axel defeated Cody Rhodes and Goldust after which Rhodes said he wants a new partner, Rusev defeated Big E and Kofi Kingston and Bo Dallas fought to a no-contest after Kane came out and decimated Kingston.

El Torito defeated Hornwoggle in a Mask vs. Hair match on the pre-show.

WWE Payback was an interesting night for the WWE as Bella quit the company, Cena stood tall over Wyatt, each champion looked strong and The Shield once again had a big night.
