There have been conflicting reports over when WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan will return to the WWE following his neck surgery earlier this month.

It was reported that Bryan could be back as soon as the Money in the Bank pay-per-view on June 29, but Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that the live events that Bryan was listed in arena advertisements for June -- including that pay-per-view -- slipped through the cracks when the WWE was pulling him from advertisements following the neck surgery.

Bryan underwent a procedure to fix an injury to his neck that has been the result of years of wear and tear he's put on his body through the years due to his in-ring style. After the surgery, the WWE began to pull him from all advertisements for shows, but apparently a few June events went undetected and still advertised the Superstar.

It is now being reported that Bryan wrestling a match at or before the Money in the Bank pay-per-view in late June is described as being highly unlikely as he continues to recover from the surgery.

A return for the June event was seen as a best-case scenario with an August return for SummerSlam a worst-case scenario.

The WWE originally wanted Bryan to face Kane in a Buried Alive match at Sunday's Payback event, however with the injury the plans had to be scrapped. There were talks of doing the match at next month's event, but it is doubtful that Bryan will be able to return.

Bryan's return remains up in the air, but the WWE is hopeful he'll be ready to do the match with Kane by the July 20 Battleground event. The status of the WWE Championship is up in the air much like Bryan's status, but he's slated to have an in-ring segment with Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley at Payback regarding the fate of the title.

Bryan's status for a return is very much up in the air, but perhaps more will be known regarding the title after Payback.
