It has been speculated for months now that Roman Reigns, Seth Rollins and Dean Ambrose, collectively known as The Shield, will breakup soon and Rollins recently spoke about the rumors.

WWE NXT Takeover Results

During an interview with Bleacher Report, Rollins was asked about the possibility of The Shield breaking up while promoting the upcoming Greatest Factions DVD, and he told the site that while factions come and go they don't every really go away for good.

"You know, you say that, but I don't know if these factions are all ever really dead," Rollins told the site. "Because when Shawn [Michaels] and Hunter [Triple H] get back together and you get that 'Are you Ready?' pumping on the Titan Tron, or when you get Scott [Hall] and Kevin [Nash] together and they put up the 'Too Sweet' to each other, or you put Arn [Anderson] and Ric [Flair] in the same room, they're definitely not enemies."

Dean Ambrose Calls Reigns and Rollins 'Former Partners' in WWE Magazine

He also said that if The Shield does come to an end, it doesn't have to end badly.

"It doesn't always have to end badly," he said. "There's a lot of longevity that comes with having a gang of friends with you throughout your career in this business. So there's no telling when The Shield will run its course. If it ever will. We're just happy riding this wave of success right now, trying to make this place a better place for everybody, wrestlers and fans alike, and we're going to keep doing that until we can't do it anymore."

It has been rumored for months that The Shield was set to breakup, and it was reported around WrestleMania XXX on April 6 that the split could happen before the show and lead to a triple threat match between the members of the faction in New Orleans.

At the request of the New Age Outlaws, The Shield stayed together and faced them and Kane in a six-man tag team match at the show, getting over as a babyface trio. The team has stayed together to feud with The Authority and The Wyatt Family over the last few months.

It seems as though a split is coming and that Reigns will get a monster babyface push soon, and the rumors intensified when Ambrose did a Q&A for WWE Magazine and referred to Rollins and Reigns as his former partners when asked who makes him laugh the most.

"My former partners, Seth Rollins and Roman Reigns," Ambrose told the magazine about who makes him laugh. "I was probably the class clown of the group so I'd usually start the joking and ribbing. But those two are hilarious. Daniel Bryan is funny too but more because he's funny looking"

It remains to be seen what will happen, but it seems as though a Shield breakup is a matter of when, not if.
