The third round and fifth day of the French Open is under way Thursday and the remaining competition looks to move one step closer on the clay. The women's tournament has been very eventful thus far as Serena Williams and Li Na, the top two seeds, are eliminated. Lets look at the full slate for day five and the best matchup of the day.

Jelena Jankovic vs. Kurumi Nara

Ana Ivanovic vs. Elina Svitolina

Petra Kvitova vs. Marina Erakovic

Alison Riske vs. Kristina Mladenovic

Simona Halep vs. Heather Watson

Sloane Stephens vs. Polona Hercog

Best Matchup: Simona Halep vs. Heather Watson

With Serena Williams out, no one benefits more than Halep. The 22-year-old will have a cakewalk into the finals if she can avoid the hiccups in the road. The first of those hiccups is Watson, who spoke very highly of her opponent to Kevin Mitchell of The Guardian.

“She’s come up through the rankings very quickly. I’m really not surprised at that because she’s got a good game. She’s very solid and makes a lot of balls. I played her at the US Open last year. It went to a third set. I started on fire, really well, but I kind of crashed and didn’t have any energy towards the end. I’m looking forward to it.”

Halep could establish herself as a force in women's tennis after a promising French Open. She shouldn't and most likely won’t let the opportunity slip by.

Prediction: Halep, 6-2, 6-1
