The Denver Broncos made the Super Bowl only to get smashed by the Seattle Seahawks, but many forget they did it without numerous key players on the roster. While Von Miller and Ryan Clady are coming back from devastating injuries, none is bigger than the one Rahim Moore is returning from.

According to TheMMQB.com's Joan Neisen, Moore came dangerously close losing his leg and never playing football again due to acute compartment syndrome. Moore had a buildup of pressure in his calf that grew to dangerous levels that almost forced doctors to remove the leg. Moore was facing amputation or possibly death if not treated, but still he told the doctors how the process was going to go.

"You are not cutting my leg off. That’s not happening.”

Doctors preformed a fasciotomy on the leg to relieve the pressure and clean out the dead and dying muscle tissue. Moore also required a follow up surgery that destroyed any chance he had of returning for the Broncos. The surgery and recovery left him with as 13 inch scar on his calf and all the time in the world to reflect on how lucky he was.

"I didn't know if I would ever walk again," Moore said. "I didn't know if I would ever be the Rahim that I know I can be, and also be able to have the footwork and be swift and things like that.”

Moore has made a full recovery in the six months since the surgery and has a less than 15 percent chance of the condition coming back. Although the Broncos added secondary help in free agency, Moore will see plenty of playing time and should return to form sooner rather than later.
