Even though he didn't catch it, A.J. Ellis was happy to join in the celebration on Josh Beckett's no-hitter, however the joyous occasion was spoiled by an injury. The Los Angeles Dodgers catcher was placed on the disabled list Monday with an ankle injury stemming from the celebration.

Beckett tossed his first-career no-hitter on Sunday against the Philadelphia Phillies, and the team had to place Ellis on the disabled-list before its 4-3 victory over the Cincinnati Reds on Monday. Ellis revealed he injured his foot on a discarded catcher's mask turning jubilation into frustration.
"My right foot landed right on top of it and rolled it pretty good," Ellis told ESPN about the injury. "I knew right away that it was more significant than other ankle rolls I've had in the past. I'm beyond frustrated."

Though Ellis didn't catch the first no-hitter of the 2014 MLB season, he was still just as excited about it, running out to join the swarm of his teammates in the celebration, but while jumping up and down, he landed on catcher Drew Butera's mask.
Ellis was less than two weeks removed from returning from a DL stint due to undergoing knee surgery, and he is hitting just .170 through 15 games this season.
Beckett, on the other hand, is stronger than ever after tossing 128 pitches to secure his place in history, and the team fully expects him to be ready to start against the Pittsburgh Pirates when his turn in the rotation comes up again on Friday. Beckett said he felt a little out of it Monday but should be fine.
"It's pretty normal, like I got hit by a truck," Beckett said about how he felt afterwards via ESPN. "That's pretty common the day after. Certainly when I was younger I felt a little bit better than I do coming out of a start now."
Manager Don Mattingly admitted that the team will monitor Beckett to make sure he is good to go on Friday.
"If I had the luxury of an extra day, I would do it," the skipper said per ESPN. "We'll pay attention to him. We talked about it afterwards. He looks at it like he pretty much had easy innings after the first couple."
Beckett, who had surgery to remove a rib last July, improved to 3-1 with a 2.43 ERA while becoming the first Dodgers pitcher to toss a no-hitter since 1996.
