Of the 30 teams in the NBA, the Minnesota Timberwolves might be the only one that isn't in contention to land Kevin Love for the long term. Add the Washington Wizards and Houston Rockets to the list of teams that are sleepers to land the Minnesota big man.
Yahoo Sports' Adrian Wojnarowski is reporting that Love’s connection to Houston’s Kevin McHale could potentially help the Rockets land the prize of the 2014 offseason.
Other than the Rockets, the Wizards are seen as a sleeper to land Love considering his “soft spot” for his father’s former squad. Chuck Myron of HoopsRumors.com and David Aldridge for NBA.com were the first with the report of Love to the Wizards. The Wizards are low on assets however, as they have already traded their first round pick to the Suns and Bradley Beal is quickly becoming “untouchable”.
According to Bleacher Report's Grant Hughes, look for the Warriors to be big players in trade talks with Klay Thompson being the cornerstone of any deal.
“Let's just be honest, though: None of those three wings are stars. Thompson is a terrific young player who can shoot the lights out and defend elite perimeter opponents. And he's still on his rookie-scale deal to boot.”
For those paying attention to the Kevin Love sweepstakes, the number of teams interested in Love’s services is quickly becoming 29.
