Following neck surgery to WWE World Heavyweight Champion Daniel Bryan, the company is slated to announce the fate of the title on Monday Night RAW in Tennessee, and it's possible that there won't be a champion crowned until Money in the Bank on June 29 in Boston.
Vince McMahon Furious Over Reports Of His Lost Money
Bryan underwent surgery earlier this month to repair a neck injury that he sustained over the years due to wear and tear on his body due to his in-ring style. With Bryan out, it was expected that the WWE would have The Authority strip Bryan of the belt in storyline, however on last week's RAW Stephanie McMahon-Helmsley challenged Bryan to appear on this week's RAW to forfeit the title.
According to Wrestlingheadlines.com, a potential scenario for the title would see the WWE strip Bryan of the belt sometime this month and have top superstars square off in a Money in the Bank Ladder Match at the June 29 pay-per-view to establish a new champion.
Chris Jericho Likely To Return To The WWE In June
Rather than have the winner of the ladder match get a briefcase for a future title shot, they would actually win the title itself in the ladder match if the WWE's plans played out that way.
Bryan was slated to face Kane in a Buried Alive match for the title at Payback on Sunday, but after he was injured the WWE obviously had to change its plans. With Bryan out and Payback already mostly set in stone, the company has opted not to have a title match at the show and it may not establish a new champion until Money in the Bank.
Bryan's timetable for a return remains fuzzy, while he may come back as early as the Money in the Bank event but could also be out until SummerSlam in August.
With Bryan's status uncertain and the title basically vacant, it's possible there won't be a new champion crowned in the WWE until late June at Money in the Bank.
