Today at 1:10 p.m. ET, the Boston Red Sox (20-29) and Atlanta Braves (28-21) go head-to-head live from Turner Field in Atlanta for the first contest of a four-game home and home set. Boston has lost 10 straight games heading into this interleague Memorial Day contest and continues a brief five-game homestand that it is currenlty 0-3 on while Atlanta continues a nine-game homestand that it is currently 5-2 on.
Clay Bucchholz (2-4, 6.32 ERA) takes the ball for the Red Sox while Ervin Santana (4-2, 3.42 ERA) toes the rubber for the Braves.
Buchholz has had a tough year thus far, but the Red Sox are hoping that some adjustments he made will start to help him overcome his struggles after he went through some video reviews of his outings that manager John Farrell said went well.
"It was good," said Farrell via MLB.com. "There was the ability to address some of the things that were revealed through video, some of the drifting of habits or flaws that emerged. It's one thing to have that checkpoint or reminder in the bullpen session. "
David Ortiz is hitting .269 with 11 homers and 25 RBIs, and with it being a National League park he will make his debut at first base.
Red Sox second baseman Dustin Pedroia tied for second in the American League with 17 doubles and is hitting ..267 with two homers and 14 RBIs this season.
Braves outfielder Justin Upton is third in the National League with 13 homers and fourth with a .588 slugging percentage while shortstop Andrelton Simmons is tied for the NL lead with four triples.
