The sale of the Los Angeles Clippers is well on its way, but through all the rumors who is actually interested in the team? ESPN reports that at least six investment groups are interested in buying the Clippers.

All of the rumored buying groups have not gone public, but TMZ is reporting that Shelly Sterling is meeting with former Microsoft CEO Steve Ballmer to discuss his potential interest in the team. Ballmer spoke to the Wall Street Journal about the rumors and said the team doesn't necessarily have to be in Seattle to peak his interest.

"If the opportunity is outside of Seattle, so be it. I will learn about any team that comes up for sale at this point. If I get interested in the Clippers, it would be for Los Angeles. I don't work anymore, so I have more geographic flexibility than I did a year, year-and-a half ago. Moving them anywhere else would be value-destructive.”

Other than Ballmer, other rumored buyers include a group headed by former NBA All-Star Grant Hill. Hill’s group includes billionaire investors and longtime Southern California residents Tony Ressler and Bruce Karsh and many believe that Grant is the frontrunner to land the team if he so chooses.
