The Oklahoma City Thunder are now listing star forward Serge Ibaka as "day-to-day" with the left calf injury that has keep him sidelined for the first two games of the team's Western Conference Finals series against San Antonio.
With the Spurs now leading the series 2-0 and the action heading to Oklahoma City, ProBasketballTalk.com reports the Thunder are holding out hope Ibaka might actually be able to take the court for Game 3.
It couldn't happen at a more opportune time for OKC, as the team has lost the first two games by a combined 52 points, including Game 2's 35-point blowout.
Ibaka suffered his injury in OKC's Game 6, series-clinching win over Chris Paul and the Clippers, and ever since then the Thunder have struggled mightily, particularly in finding a reliable third option for their suddenly sputtering offense.
Serge Ibaka splits with Keri Hilson?
"The abundance of blood and therefore swelling in Serge's calf has reduced substantially and unexpectedly, allowing a level of movement and stability not thought possible after the initial diagnosis," Thunder GM Sam Presti told ProBasketball. "At present, Serge has yet to complete a full basketball workout, but is walking and doing light basketball drills. With this new information, and in an effort to keep his status current, we are now listing him as day-to-day with the understanding that there is a possibility for him to play in this series."
The Thunder have missed Ibaka on defense nearly just as much, allowing San Antonio a staggering 120 points in the paint and an average of117 per night.
Game 3 is Sunday in Oklahoma.
