Richard Sherman Best Corner A Myth? Cardinals' Patrick Peterson: 'I Do Much More Than He Does' [VIDEO]

Seattle Seahawks cornerback Richard Sherman is widely regarded as the best corner in the league by many players and fans, but he doesn't rank high on Arizona corner Patrick Peterson's list.

Peterson, making an appearance on Arizona sports radio, didn't pull any punches when asked about Sherman, saying that he doesn't believe the highest paid corner in the league could hold up in the defensive scheme of the Cardinals.

"I believe if you put him in our system I don't think he'd be able to last, honestly," Peterson said on Arizona Sports 98.7 in Phoenix. "I actually do much more than he is."

Peterson publicly said that he is worth more than the $57.4 million extension that Sherman received from the Super Bowl champion Seahawks this offseason.

Sherman fired back at the Cardinals corner in a tweet back on May 13:

Peterson admitted that Sherman looks better on the stat sheet, but he still believes he is a better corner.

"I don't want to get into that debate as far as the stats that he has and things he has," Peterson told the show. "Obviously, his job is definitely much easier than mine. If you look at their scheme and look at our scheme, he's a Cover 3 corner. Period."

Peterson had three interceptions for 59 yards in 16 games for the Cardinals last season with 40 tackles and two fumble recoveries while Sherman had eight interceptions for 125 yards through 16 games for the Seahawks with 42 tackles and two fumble recoveries.

Sherman has 20 picks since 2011, while Peterson has 12, but Peterson doesn't believe that glaring stat should be held against him.

"He's only covering space. He's not really covering a guy," Peterson said on the radio. "At the end of the day, he has great stats and he has great playmaking ability, not taking that away from him because he is a good corner. But as far as being a shutdown corner, man-to-man guy, in my eyes, I don't believe he's that."

Peterson, a three-time Pro Bowler and two-time All-Pro said he is happy for Sherman's deal, but believes that he deserves more when he becomes a free agent in two years, and he discussed Sherman's notable outbursts.

"I was happy for Richard. I thought he worked hard for it," Peterson told ESPN. "I believe some of the outbursts were definitely timed very, very well. But at the same time, he did what he needed to do to get paid."
