A new twist was added to the Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez transfer saga on Wednesday.
Miguel Herrera Bans Players From Having Sex and Alcohol Until After World Cup?
Limited action and subtle hints at his unhappiness were the driving force behind his rumored exit from Old Trafford, but Hernandez took it a step further with reporters in Mexico. His focus remains preparation for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil. That, however, doesn't negate the fact that even he admits his future with Manchester United is in serious doubt (h/t to Goal). "My future could be decided tomorrow, a little after, inside three months, [I could] stay there [in Manchester], I don't honestly know," Hernandez said.
"My people are working it out. I'm here trying to be 100 percent focused [on the World Cup]," he added.
Edinson Cavani A Perfect Fit For Manchester United?
Mexican national team head coach was more forthright in his response to the topic.
"In the case of 'Chicharo,' I believe it'd be in his interest to leave so he is taken into consideration to play."
If playing time with Manchester United was a concern for Hernandez in 2013, it'll be an even greater concern should he stay. Newly appointed manager Louis van Gaal has shown no signs of implementing the Mexican striker in his plans, especially with multiple reports (via the Daily Mail) having new talents bless Old Trafford.
Bayern Munich's Toni Kroos has reportedly agreed to a £20 million deal with the club. Not satisfied, van Gaal has now set his sights on Kroos' teammate and Holland international Arjen Robben. The duo by no means feature in the same role as Hernandez, but them being targeted is a clear indication that van Gaal is ready to usher in a new era for Manchester United.
Unfortunately for Hernandez, it's a new era that will be better served without his talents.
