Tonight at 8:00 p.m. ET, the Los Angeles Kings and Chicago Blackhawks faceoff for Game 2 of their best-of-seven Western Conference Finals series live from the United Center in Chicago. The game can be live streamed for free here. Los Angeles fans can hear all of the action on Fox Sports 570 while Chicago fans can do the same on WGN 720.
Los Angeles looks to even up the series before it heads home for Game 3 while Chicago looks to take advantage of home ice and take a 2-0 series lead before the series shifts to California. The Blackhawks took Game 1 on Sunday 3-1. Chicago topped Los Angeles in the first two games at home in last year's Western Conference Finals and went on to win the series in five games.
The Kings out-shot and out-chanced the Blackhawks in Game 1 but still couldn't win the game. The team hopes that its effort will propel it to tying the series tonight.
"I think it's a give and take," captain Dustin Brown told NHL.com. "We have to find a way to generate really good offensive chances for our team as well as try to shut down that [top] line."
Though the Blackhawks topped the Kings in all three meetings this year and in five games in last year's Western Conference Finals, the team knows this series is different.
"Whether we have winning records against certain teams we play in the regular season and we get a chance to play them in the [Stanley Cup Playoffs], we have always done a good job of disregarding that past, because we know it doesn't mean a whole heck of a lot," captain Jonathan Toews said per NHL.com. "Same goes for this series. What happened last year is last year and what happened this season is really meaningless.
Toews (six goals, five assists) is tied with defenseman Brent Seabrook (two tallies, nine helpers) for second on the team with 11 points this postseason while Marian Hossa leads the team with 13 points by finding the twine twice and adding 11 assists.
Toews, Brandon Saad and defenseman Duncan Keith each scored for Chicago in Game 1 while Tyler Toffoli netted the lone goal for Los Angeles.
Kings forward Anze Kopitar leads the playoffs in points (19) and assists (14) while adding five goals and Marian Gaborik (nine) paces the NHL in goals this postseason while adding six helpers for 15 points to rank second on the team. Jeff Carter has lit the lamp four times and added eight assists for 12 points.
Jonathan Quick will man the crease for Los Angeles after going 8-7 thus far this postseason with a 2.75 goals-against average and a .912 save percentage. Quick stopped 17 shots and allowed three goals in Game 1.
Corey Crawford will be between the pipes for Chicago after going 9-4 in these playoffs with an NHL-best 1.90 GAA and a .933 save percentage that ranks second in the NHL. Crawford yielded one goal while turning aside 25 shots in Game 1.
The Kings look to nod up the series before heading back home while the Blackhawks hope to take a commanding 2-0 series lead on the road with them when the puck drops tonight at the United Center in Chicago for Western Conference Finals Game 2 as part of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
