Florida prosecutors admit they want to "grill" former NFL star Aaron Hernandez about a 2007 shooting there that left two men seriously injured.

According to RollingStone.com, Hernandez was then a student at the University of Florida and a teammate of eventual Heisman Trophy winner Tim Tebow. The website adds the dispute leading to the shooting stemmed from a nightclub argument.

It's the latest in a litany of violent crimes the 24-year-old former New England Patriots tight end has been charged with or linked to over the last several months. Jailed since June 2013 on first-degree murder charges in the execution style-killing on one-time associate Odin Lloyd, Hernandez was also indicted last week in a 2012 drive-by, double slaying in downtown Boston that left Daniel de Abreu and Safiro Furtado dead.

Since being jailed and held in solitary confinement at the Bristol County Jail, Hernandez has also been criminally charged with threatening to kill a prison guard and his family. Before that, he was moved to amore secluded area of the jail after attacking and savagely beating a fellow inmate while the man was still handcuffed.

Police have since speculated Hernandez killed Lloyd because he had knowledge about other violent crimes he's suspected of having been involved in. Hernandez is also reportedly being investigated as part of an intrastate gun-running operation.

Hernandez is expected to appear in court next week on the latest double murder charges and has already pleaded not guilty in the Lloyd killing.
