The Philadelphia Eagles announced Tuesday that they have parted ways with former Pro Bowl cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha. After failing to agree on a restructured deal, the Eagles decided to cut the cornerback just two years after he was regarded as the biggest signing of the team's then-dubbed "Dream Team" offseason.

"Coach [Chip] Kelly and I each had a chance to speak with Nnamdi earlier and he took the news with a lot of class," general manager Howie Roseman said in a statement on the team's website. "We expected nothing less than that from him. He has been a true pro on and off the field for this organization and our community and we wish him all the best as he continues his NFL career.

Asomugha was scheduled to make $15 million in 2013, with $4 million guaranteed. The three-time Pro Bowler spent the majority of his career in Oakland before signing a five-year, $60 million contract with the Eagles in 2011.

Now, the 31-year-old cornerback will once again test the free agent market, only with less prestigue following two disappointing seasons in Philadelphia. ESPN reports that Asomugha's goal is to sign with a contending team.
