The Minnesota Vikings have agreed to trade wide receiver Percy Harvin to the Seattle Seahawks for draft picks pending a physical, according to Jay Glazer of FOX Sports. Profootballfocus.com reports that the Seahawks 2013 first-round pick is one of the selections the Vikings will receive, giving them the No. 23 and No. 25 picks in the draft.
Harvin, who frequently suffers from migraines that have caused him to miss time since entering the NFL, has been a headache for Minnesota's front office about receiving a lucrative contract extension. He is currently on the final year of his rookie deal and has threatened to hold out of training camp and possibly into the regular season.
Harvin was on his way to the best year of his career last year but was derailed by injuries, a common theme throughout his career. Harvin has never played 16 games in a season and has missed half the season twice four years. He also has a history of arguments with coaches dating back to his college days at Florida.
There is no arguing Harvin's ceiling however. He is a threat as a wide receiver as well as out of the backfield-in 2012 Harvin caught 62 passes for 677 yards and three touchdowns while rushing 22 times for 96 yards and a score. Harvin is also one of the most dynamic kick returners in the NFL, leading the league last year with 35.9 yards per return. He also had the second-longest return of the year, a 105-yarder. Additionally, Harvin was third in the league with 571 yards after contact, despite playing only half the season.
Harvin will be the No. 1 option for Russell Wilson, who was drafted in the third round of last year's draft by Pete Carroll and wrestled the starting job away from free agent signee Matt Flynn in training camp. Wilson led the Seahawks to the playoffs in his first year at the helm, despite lacking a true top receiver. He led Seattle to an 11-5 record, and racked up 3,118 yards through the air with 26 touchdowns and 10 interceptions. His leading pass-catcher was Sidney Rice, who ended the year with 58 receptions for 748 yards and seven touchdowns.
