Nearly a year after former tight end Aaron Hernandez was jailed on murder charges, the New England Patriots Patriots are still feeling the ill effects of his fall from grace.

FoxNews.com reports the team has now instituted a first-of-its-kind "jersey guarantee" policy where fans will be able to exchange any jersey purchased from the team's website or gift shop after May 8 at a 25 percent discount toward a new one if the player whose jersey they originally purchased is no longer with the team within a calendar year of the first buy.

Judge upholds gag order in Aaron Hernandez case

The 24-year-old Hernandez was one of the team's most popular and promising players when he was jailed on first-degree murder charges last year stemming from the execution style slaying of one-time associate Odin Lloyd.

Hernandez remains jailed and held without bail at the Bristol County House of Corrections and police have also indicated he is a suspect in a 2012 drive-by, double slaying in downtown Boston that remains unsolved. Police have speculated Hernandez may have killed Lloyd over his knowledge about other violent crimes he was allegedly involved in.

Shortly after Hernandez was first taken into custody, the Patriots staged an offer where fans were able to bring in and exchange his jerseys for those of other players still currently on the roster.
