CM Punk hasn't appeared in a WWE ring since January at the Royal Rumble pay-per-view, but that hasn't stopped the "Best in the World" from popping up elsewhere, and this past weekend he participated in the Tough Mudder, at an event where he was photographed.

WWE Monday Night RAW Spoilers and Preview

Wrestlingheadlines.com reports that Punk participated in the Tough Mudder in Chicago on Saturday in his latest event that doesn't involve wrestling. Punk has been spotted at Chicago Blackhawks Stanley Cup Playoff games and even participated in an on-ice contest at the United Center while he also made a television appearance on AMC's Talking Dead this season under his real name Phil Brooks.

Punk walked out on the WWE prior to the episode of Monday Night RAW on Jan. 27 that aired the night after the Royal Rumble. Punk has remained quiet about his departure from the WWE but it has been reported that he stormed out on the company.

Though his contract doesn't expire until this July, Punk has not worked a single date since late January.

The likely reason for him leaving was due to his increased frustration over the company's direction for him, which reportedly was going to lead to him taking on Triple H at WrestleMania XXX on April 6 when Punk wanted the main event spot.

Bryan ended up taking his spot and defeating Triple H in the opening match with the added stipulation that if he won he got into the main event. Bryan then defeated Batista and Randy Orton in a Triple Threat Match to win the WWE World Heavyweight Championship.

Punk hasn't shown any interest in returning to the company and the WWE gave up any hope it had about him returning when he skipped the RAW episode that emanated from Chicago in March and didn't even come to the arena in his hometown to talk with management about his status. Punk was said to be in constant pain and burned out from traveling when he departed the company.

Punk recently got engaged to WWE Diva A.J. Lee, who took some time off from the organization in order to move in with him in Chicago. One of Punk's friends recently wrote an article about her friend the "retired wrestler," and while she didn't identify Punk by name it is known that it was indeed Punk who she wrote about.

Punk has continuously popped up in places, but it doesn't seem as though he will be returning to the WWE anytime soon, if at all.
