While the rest of the league praised the drafting of Michael Sam, the first openly gay player in NFL history, by the St. Louis Rams, there were also those who apparently didn't like the idea of a gay player in the league.

Miami Dolphins sophomore Don Jones is in hot water after he tweeted a controversial reaction to the drafting of Sam, but has since deleted those tweets.

According to ESPN, Jones tweeted "OMG" and "horrible" soon after it was announced that Sam was the 249th pick of the 2014 NFL draft. ESPN and NFL Network cameras soon caught Sam kissing his boyfriend after the Mizzou standout received a phone call from his new team.

Dolphins general manager Dennis Hickey was not at all pleased with the comments made by his player. He told ESPN: "I was made aware of it and I was disappointed in those comments. That's not what we stand for as an organization. The draft weekend is a culmination for so many players, their lifetime achievement of their dream to achieve a goal for Michael Sam and all the other players."

He continued: "It's a celebration. ... I think it's a great thing for the league."

The GM said the team will be sitting down with Jones to tackle the comments he made.

The Dolphins have been quite controversial this week on social media. Jones' teammate Mike Pouncey tweeted on Thursday: "I can't wait for our gifts he's getting us" in an apparent attack at Miami first-round pick Ja'Wuan James. It can be remembered that Pouncey and ex-teammates Richie Incognito and John Jerry were cited by the Ted Wells report for harassing former teammate Jonathan Martin.
