Steven Jackson decided to test the NFL free agent market this offseason after voiding his contract with the St. Louis Rams, the team that drafted him, due to the franchise suggesting he take a reduced role in their offense. Jackson believes that despite being in his tenth season, a potential downhill turn for running backs, he can still contribute as an elite NFL rusher.

"For where I'm at, going into Year 10, I'm not ready to step back and just become a primary backup or a reduced role guy to be part of a running back by committee," Jackson said Thursday on Sirius XM NFL Radio. "I still have a lot left in my tank. I still have a lot left to offer to a team. We're not talking about someone that's in Year 12 or 13."

Jackson, the Rams' career rushing leader, didn't totally rule out a reduced role should a contender franchise show interest. He never has played for a winning team over his nine-year career.
