With the No. 1 overall selection the Houston Texans have selected defensive end out of South Carolina, Jadeveon Clowney.

Pros:
- Potential to be an elite pass rusher
- JJ Watt, Brian Cushing will keep him in the gym and focused
- Incredibly underrated in his run defense
- Speed/strength combination is unprecedented
- Versatile pass rusher that can play multiple schemes
- The list goes on and on

Cons:
- Questionable work ethic due to lack of incentive
- How will he react when he has money?
- Draft fatigue due to being the top prospect for two years
- How will he adapt to playing OLB
- Has never played in the 3-4

Analysis: No surprise here as the Texans tag the top player in the draft and the player that many have called the best defensive talent in the past 25 years. Clowney’s real test is now that he has the draft in his rear view mirror is can he live up to the hype? Clowney will be asked to play the 3-4 outside linebacker position which could create some growing pains as he has never played the position before.

Bill O’Brien and the Texans made this best possible pick they could have No. 1 overall and only time will tell if a player like Khalil Mack was a better option. The Texans now have a huge devensive prospect to develop, but they still have nothing but question marks at the quarterback position. The Texans almost have to come away with a quarterback when they come back around in round two.

Grade: B+
The pick is a no-brainer, but will Clowney be able to pick up the 3-4 as fast as Khalil Mack would have at the pro level?
