Center-back and club captain Aquivaldo Mosquera has reportedly played his final match for Club America. Early reports from Fox Deportes' Eric Gomez have the 32-year-old Colombian exiting the club in the upcoming summer transfer window, with the pursuit of Los Angeles Galaxy center-back Omar Gonzalez to ensue.
Mexican National Team World Cup Roster Leaked?
Gonzalez signed a designated player contract with the Galaxy in 2013, becoming the first American defender to do so in league history. At the time of signing, the 25-year-old showed no intentions of leaving Los Angeles (h/t to MLS's official website). "He [U.S. men's national team head coach Jurgen Klinsmann] basically told me he thinks it's fine that I stay here in MLS, and hearing him say that really put my mind at ease and really made it easier for me to make this decision," Gonzalez said.
"I really wanted to know what his thoughts were, because I was already thinking maybe I wanted to stay here with the Galaxy, and to hear him validate it and say it's fine if you stay for a couple of years, but at some point you should go to Europe, you should see what that's like to to test yourself," he added.

"I think I agree with him, but, you know, I decided to stay, and I'm happy with my decision."
It looks as if Gonzalez will be forced to make another decision in the near future.

This isn't the first time Club America has shown interest in the former MLS Defender of the Year. Gonzalez revealed ahead of a World Cup qualifier in Mexico that the club had shown an interest in his services as early as 2011 (h/t to MLS's official website). "This past two years, I've been hearing some things and América has expressed some interest and we just haven't been able to go forward with it that much because of the injury and things like that," he said.
"But they've been following me every since I've come back [from injury]."
Gonzalez even admitted how much playing at the Estadio Azteca means to him and his roots.
"I'm playing for the US and that's what I always wanted to do," he continued. "But the feeling I feel of being Mexican and playing in Azteca is really hard to put into words."
"It's really a special time for me."
The opportunity will be there for Gonzalez to play at the Azteca on a week-in and week-out basis should he choose to transfer in the summer.
