The Los Angeles Lakers should have a busy offseason ahead of them as the team hopes to make a big splash in free agency to appease star forward Kobe Bryant and has been liked to such names as Carmelo Anthony and Rudy Gay, while Pau Gasol may depart for the Memphis Grizzlies.

The Lakers are also in search of a new coach after Mike D'Antoni resigned, and the team will hope to bring in a wealth of new talent after it failed to make the playoffs for the first time since 2005 this season and lost a franchise-worst 55 games.
International Business Times reported that the Lakers are very much interested in making a big splash for Anthony, who could be looking to leave the New York Knicks after opting for free agency, while the team also remains interested in potentially signing small forward Gay, who was dealt from the Toronto Raptors to Sacramento Kings in the middle of the season and could opt out of his contract to become a free agent.
Gay is coming off of a season where he averaged 20 points along with 6.0 rebounds with the Kings.
The Lakers are reportedly planning to try and land a top-tier free agent such as Anthony and use the solid Gay as a fallback plan if they can't net one of the upper-class free agents in the league during this offseason.
The Lakers should have plenty of cap space as an estimated $20 million is free due to the fact that Bryant, Steve Nash and Robert Sacre are currently the only players under contract for the 2014-15 season. The team is looking to build through free agency and also hopes to get a high draft pick in the lottery to acquire some youth.
Meanwhile, Pau Gasol's brother Marc Gasol discussed Pau's future as the 7-foot guard will become a free agent this summer after winning two titles with the Lakers. Marc hinted that the Grizzlies could be a potential landing spot for his brother.
"He knows what we're about here in Memphis, he knows everything about it," Marc told USA Today Sports.
It remains to be seen what happens with the Lakers, but there are plenty of rumors surrounding the team when it comes to this offseason.
