There is never a good time to fail a drug test, but failing one days before the biggest day of your life is pretty miserable. Thats the situation 10 NFL prospects have after they failed or were flagged for their combine drug tests.
The notable player names were LSU’s Zach Mettenberger and Florida States Timmy Jernigan who were borderline first round picks before the news. According to Fox Sports’ Jay Glazer, both Mettenberger and Jernigan were flagged for having diluted urine samples at the combine which is common for people looking to clear something out of their system.
Browns Looking For Third First Round Pick
The word coming out of Mettenberger’s camp is that his heavy water intake was recommended by his doctor to help with his ACL recovery, but many have trouble believing that story. According to Glazer, the stock of the two prominent players named shouldn't take a huge hit at this point in the draft due to the fact that any team that liked them before the incident will still like them now.
Other notable players to be flagged at the combine include LSU defensive tackle Anthony Johnson, University of Miami tackle Seantrel Henderson, and Florida State linebackers Telvin Smith and Christian Jones.
This storyline won’t go away before Thursday’s draft and when these players, hopefully, hear their name called you can bet the first thing they will talk about is how this impacted their draft stock.
