The transfer saga involving Manchester United's Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez continues to evolve. New suitors have seemingly joined the rumor mill by the day—the latest being endorsed by a former club legend. Come the summer transfer window, Hernandez may end up in Madrid after all.
Javier Hernandez Replacing Diego Costa 'A Mistake' For Atletico Madrid?
Just not in the red-and-white stripes of Atletico Madrid.
Former Real Madrid striker Fernando Morientes recently praised the 25-year-old in an interview with ESPN Deportes. In it, the man responsible for 143 career goals proclaimed his affinity for the Mexican's talents. For Morientes, Hernandez would only increase the already staggering production of Los Merengues (h/t to Goal). "I've always liked him since he arrived at Manchester [United]," said Morientes.
Luis Suarez waiting for Real Madrid Bid?
"I would love to see him at a Spanish team, and if it was Real Madrid, it would be even better," he added.
"I think he is an exceptional forward, under-used at the moment. I know he'd bring a lot of goals."
There's no denying the poaching abilities of Chicharito Hernandez. In four seasons with Manchester United, he's contributed 37 league goals despite his lack of playing time.
Would a move to Real Madrid, however, best suit him?
With Diego Costa strongly linked to a summer transfer—reportedly to Chelsea for a $50 million transfer fee—Hernandez's services would be a welcomed addition to the Vicente Calderon. The potent attack of Real Madrid have already secured a 100-goal season. The Mexican international would only play second fiddle to the likes of Karim Benzema or Luis Suarez, should the Liverpool striker agree to Real Madrid's pending bid.
Playing time is already a cause of concern for Hernandez. More of the same would only await him at Real Madrid.
