On the day where he was honored with a New York street renamed in his honor, Mariano Rivera caused some waves when talking about a former teammate. In his new book, Rivera revealed he would prefer Boston Red Sox second baseman, Dustin Pedroia, to former teammate and current Seattle Mariner, Robinson Cano.

Rivera wrote in his book, after being around Cano for so many years, that he just didn't see the passion to be the best in the league and was content with his current place.

"This guy has so much talent I don't know where to start... There is no doubt that he is a Hall of Fame caliber (player). It's just a question of whether he finds the drive you need to get there. I don't think Robby burns to be the best ... You don't see that red-hot passion in him that you see in most elite players.”

In the same breath Rivera spoke very highly of long-time rival Pedroia and his honesty would make any Yankee fan cringe.

"Nobody plays harder, gives more, wants to win more. He comes at you hard for 27 outs. It's a special thing to see. If I have to win one game, I'd have a hard time taking anybody over Dustin Pedroia as my second baseman.”

Rivera’s book “The Closer” is available Tuesday and other than speaking of the Yankees, he speaks of his family life. The book hits on the highs and lows of the greatest closer in baseball history from an angle that not many have seen due to his private tendencies in the media capital of the world.
