Fred Hoiberg To Replace Mark Jackson? Warriors Indecisive About Firing Coach [VIDEO]

Mark Jackson's toxicity must be significant. At least it appears to be to the Golden State Warriors management

The San Jose Mercury News is reporting that the Warriors still are very much up in the air about bringing back a coach that led the team to back-to-back playoff games for the first time since 1990-92.

It mentioned Iowa State coach Fred Hoiberg - the Warriors' top theoretical choice to replace Jackson according to the San Jose Mercury News - and TNT analyst Steve Kerr as potential candidates to replace a coach that has yet to be fired.

At issue, or at least one issue, is the fact that the Warriors executives seem to want Jackson to part ways with his top assistant, Pete Myers, because they believe the Warriors offense has little fluidity and is too improvisational.

Los Angeles Lakers' next coach hire will seal the fate of Jim Buss

From the San Jose Mercury News:

"All signs are that the Warriors brass would like a stronger, more fluid offensive system and a less bombastic overall approach.

"And Lacob and his executives probably would like to see a stronger strategic top assistant (or two) alongside Jackson.

"But Jackson is extremely sensitive to questions about his or Pete Myers' X-and-O acumen and probably would not enjoy a conversation along these lines.

"Why? Because Jackson believes Michael Malone, the Warriors' No. 1 assistant before leaving last offseason, received too much credit for the Warriors' game plans.

"The Warriors executives have been contemplating this for about a year now, once extension talks with Jackson broke down last offseason.

"Which is what led to the reports of Jackson's shaky status and the general atmosphere of instability and intrigue (and two dismissed assistant coaches) over the past year."

That the team's best player, Stephen Curry, to come out and say that it's unfair that Jackson's job is in question and that he would be shocked if Jackson were fired - and the Warriors brass still are considering dismissal as an option does not bode well for his future with the franchise.

But for the sake of both sides, the fair thing to do is to make a decision quickly.
