Tiger Woods currently doesn't have a timetable for when he can return to the PGA Tour, but Monday he spoke about his injury and the “slow process” to getting back into the think of the competition.

Woods spoke via a blog post on his website and among the post was a detailed account of the timing and reasoning for his sudden back surgery.

"I made the decision to have surgery because physically I just couldn't make a golf swing. That pretty much sums it up.”

Woods then addressed when he thinks he can return and the timetable he was told to stick to when he first met with his doctors.

"I really don't know. I'm doing everything I can and listening to my doctors and working on a strength program, and then we just have to see how my back is. Some people heal up in three months, some people take longer. I just don't know."

Woods also said he spoke with Master Champion Bubba Watson about his major victory and when he is physically unable to compete it is much easier for him to miss major tournaments like the Masters.

"I've missed major championships before, so this was not a new experience," he wrote. "It helps when I'm physically unable to play the game. That's when it's easy for me, and I don't have a problem watching."

Tiger doesn't know at this time if he will have to make any long term changes to his golf game to protect his back, but when he is ready he will meet with his coach Sean Foley.

“You start from the green and work your way back: putting, chipping, pitching, wedging, mid-irons, long irons, woods and eventually playing. That's all a process and takes time. We have to make sure my back heals fine and I have the strength and mobility going forward.”

As previously reported by the Golf Channel Woods is rumored to be targetting a return during the British Open.

"While Tiger Woods has not yet set a timetable for his return to competition, Golf Channel sources indicate that fans could see the world No. 1 back in action in July."

"Sources tell Golf Channel that Woods is targeting a return at the Open Championship, which will be held July 17-20 at Royal Liverpool.”

Tiger's return is not set in stone, but all rumors and reports point toward a return for the British Open as Woods continues his quest to top Jack Nicklaus' record 18 major championships.
