The trial of former Olympic athlete Oscar Pistorius continues as testimony is heard from all parties. One of Pistorius’ neighbors has recently testified and said that the athlete is “torn apart” after the shooting and that he truly believed he shot an intruder.

Pistorius neighbor Johan Stander testified that he saw a broken man when he received a phone call from Pistorius soon after he shot and killed his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp. Stander testified reflected Pistorius’ story that he believed Steenkamp was an intruder in the home when he open fired on a closed bathroom door.

"I saw the truth there that morning. I saw it and I feel it.”

"really crying. He was in pain.”

"He was asking God to help him. He was torn apart, broken, desperate, pleading”

"It's difficult really to describe.”

Stander came to Pistorius’ villa soon after he got the phone call and witnessed Pistorius carrying the body of Steenkamp down the stairs and later trying to revive her to no avail. The emotional Stander gave his full account of at night and spoke of Pistoriuss every action from trying to drive Steenkamp to the hospital to his final pleas to save her life.

The prosecution hinted that Stander’s testimony is to help his friend Pistorius, who he has been good friends with since 2009. Stander stood by his testimony and said Steenkamp was also his friend.

"I'm here to give the truth. And I think I've given the truth, what I saw that morning.”
