The NFL Draft is little more than week away, but we have known this year's players for almost four months. But do we really know them? Lets find out with scoring reports on the drafts’ top prospects
Player: Odell Beckham, Jr.
Summary: Beckham was the home run threat for LSU for years and now is taking his talents to the NFL. Beckham will be a deep threat the way DeSean Jackson and Mike Wallace have been for the majority of their careers, but he will play some special teams as well. Beckham’s one flaw is that he might be a little undersized and some of the bigger defenders might be able to bounce him around and hurt him.
Pros:
- Great speed
- Deep threat
- Runs great routes
- Can play right away
- Relatively safe pick
Cons:
- Size
- One trick pony?
- Can be manhandled by bigger corners
Pro Comparison: Mike Wallace
Speed and the illusion that he can be more than a deep threat is what Wallace has made a living off of. Beckham has the potential to be Wallace and more due to his ability to field kicks and play special teams. If Beckham can put on some poundage he could establish himself as the best deep threat in the league with any luck.
Perfect Fits: Baltimore Ravens, New York Jets, Kansas City Chiefs, St. Louis Rams
Any team in need of a game changing receiver who has the ability to stretch the field with the deep route could use Beckham. The Jets and Ravens have shiny new toys at receiver and could use the one play making deep threat to put them over the top. St. Louis is rumored to be interested in Beckham's services with their second first round pick.
