Chris Benoit Son WWE? David Benoit to Make Pro Wrestling Debut in Calgary, Teaming With Chavo Guerrero

David Benoit (son of Chris Benoit) is set to make is professional wrestling debut on July 18 in Calgary at the Hart Legacy Wrestling event. Benoit will be teaming with Chavo Guerrero Jr., who was traveling with Chris Benoit towards the end of his life. As The Figure Four Weekly Newsletter reports, there will be a whole lot of attention on David Benoit's debut and progression, especially if he ever made it all the way to WWE.

Speaking of WWE using the Benoit name, David was quoted by F4W as issuing the following statement that he wants all pro wrestling fans to read:

"For all you dirtsheets out there and all you fans, it was at a show in Edmonton, two years ago, I sat down in the production office, talking to one of the writers, they said 'Yup, we'll use the Benoit name again. We could do a lot with it.' There's the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth."

The indication from David Benoit here is that one day, he could make it to WWE, and at least some people in the company aren't completely shutting the door on that concept.

However, at the same time, F4W reports that David Benoit breaking into pro wrestling "is setting off alarms" due to what happened with Chris Benoit at the end of his life.

Reports F4W: "A long, brutal wrestling career left his father a brain-damaged, broken down drug addict who killed David's brother and stepmother before killing himself. We could argue forever about how much different factors meant in driving Chris Benoit to do what he did, but in light of recent comments from Chris Nowinski (that he has seen at least a dozen athletes with Chronic Traumatic Encephalopathy who at least tried to kill their families), it's hard to argue that pro wrestling had absolutely nothing to do with it."

The report goes onto to mention David Benoit's interviews on the "Wrestling Gurus" podcast leading to his debut in July, where David says his father should be in the WWE Hall of Fame.

CB's Analysis: I don't think Chris Benoit will ever be in the WWE Hall of Fame. As for David Benoit, I believe that while there is a very slim chance that he could make it to WWE, I just don't think that they would risk it regardless of what anyone in WWE has said to David Benoit in the past.
