To no one's surprise, Daniel Bryan successfully defended his WWE World Heavyweight Championship against Kane at Extreme Rules. However, even before the results were final at Sunday's live event show, there was already backstage news circulating about Daniel Bryan's future as WWE's top titleholder.
According to PWInsider.com, the indication backstage is that there is no guarantee that Daniel Bryan will still be WWE Champion in the next few months. The report alleges that some people still think it's the YES! chant that is more popular than the person behind it and that Bryan's story at the top peaked at WrestleMania 30.
At the same time, the report also says that Daniel Bryan is a rare top star in WWE that does not have a huge ego backstage and the rumors are that Bryan doesn't argue about how he is booked. Meanwhile, there are many people who are taking a wait and see approach to Bryan's run at the top. They are waiting to see if he cools off and gets shuffled back down the card, or if he remains a hot commodity and gets to stay there longer.

CB's Analysis: Of course the first part of the Daniel Bryan journey to the top peaked at WrestleMania 30, as that was the whole point. As for the idea that the YES! chant is more popular than Bryan himself, I think that it's pretty unfair to separate the two as the chant wouldn't have become such a phenomenon without Daniel Bryan championing it.
I am also not surprised that Daniel Bryan doesn't have an ego backstage as he seems like the most down to earth wrestler on the planet anytime I see him on in any kind of interview or documentary special, or even on Total Divas.
As for who should take the title from Daniel Bryan when WWE is ready to pull the trigger, there is only one name who comes to mind who can keep Bryan's character really strong but also be worthy of winning, and that person is Brock Lesnar.
Jim Ross Speculates on Daniel Bryan vs. Brock Lesnar Match Rumors and Predictions
There would be no shame in losing to the man who beat THE STREAK, and eventually Brock Lesnar should win the championship to continue the momentum of being THE ONE in 21 and one. I would say SummerSlam would make the most sense for such a match to take place.
