Is Jameis Winston taking food from grocery stores a common practice?

That is what turned out to be the amount of time Florida State relief pitcher Jameis Winston, who dabbles on the side as the school's quarterback and reigning Heisman Trophy winner, was suspended for a shoplifting citation.

He was cited Tuesday night and suspended on Wednesday.

Florida State baseball coach Mike Martin confirmed to the Tallahassee Democrat on Sunday that Winston finished his community service and is back on the team.

"As soon as he did, he came over here and we reinstated him," Martin said.

The two-sport star who led the Seminoles football team to the 2014 BCS national championship in January left with more than $32 worth of seafood from a Publix grocery store in Tallahassee. He was not arrested, and the Leon County Sheriff's Office agreed to let Winston enter a pre-trial diversion program that required him to complete 20 hours of community service.

The agreement was arranged because Winston was a first-time offender, the Sheriff's Office had said.

According to the Democrat, Winston had a meeting at DISC Village, a non-profit agency that assists in coordinating intervention programs in Leon County. The purpose of the meeting was to find places for Winston to volunteer for community service to fulfill his legal obligation.

The Democrat cited the YMCA as one of several places Winston volunteered time.

"He jumped right into it," said Tim Jansen, who is Winston's attorney, to the Democrat. "He wanted to get it out of the way and he wanted to get back to the team. It's not easy getting 20 hours done in such a short time."

The Seminoles beat the Minnesota Gophers 7-1 Sunday to complete a three-game sweep. Winston was not at Dick Howser Stadium before the game but was spotted in the dugout in the second inning.

After the game, Martin was asked whether he considered a longer suspension beyond the time it took for Winston to complete his community service.

"When I got all the facts is when I said 'When he's fulfilled his obligation, he will be reinstated,'" Martin said.

Winston is 1-0 with five saves and a 1.50 earned run average with the FSU baseball team.
