The L.A. Dodgers are standing by pitcher Josh Beckett's claims that he never hurled the N-word at a Minnesota bartender as she alleges he drunkenly did late last month.

According to TMZ Sports, bartender Mary Rohr maintains Beckett used the epithet after she informed him she was cutting him off because he had already had too much to drink. The website adds the woman claims the incident took place on April 28, while Beckett was at the Grand Hotel bar with teammates Clayton Kershaw, Orel Hershiser and three other team broadcasters.

"He used the N-word towards [sic] me while hanging on his teammate, then asked for another cocktail" Rohr said in a statement she later submitted to hotel management. She also claims that when she confronted Kershaw over what Beckett had said the reigning Cy Young Award winner simply responded "we'll, he's from Texas."

Since then, Dodgers' officials have been conducting their own investigation and thus far reportedly have found the woman's story to be "absolutely false," adding Kershaw wasn't even in Minnesota on the day the incident is alleged to have taken place.

TMZ adds Beckett has denied the allegations and Hershiser also assures management "there was no incident and Beckett never said that. That's absolutely false."

It's reported Rohr has now also changed her story, claiming she simply mistook pitcher Paul Maholm for Kershaw.
