Today at 12:30 p.m. ET, the Montreal Canadiens and Boston Bruins faceoff for Game 2 of their Round 2 best-of-seven series as part of the NHL Stanley Cup Playoffs. The game can be live streamed for free here. Montreal fans can hear all of the action on TSN 690 while Boston fans can do the same on WBZ 1030.
Montreal is looking to take a 2-0 series lead back home with them after a thrilling double overtime victory in Game 1 off of a goal by defenseman P.K. Subban while Boston looks to bounce back from a heart-wrenching loss and even up the series before it heads up to Canada.
The Canadiens are flying high after Subban lit the lamp on a power play slap shot from the point five minutes into the second overtime, but the team knows it has a long way to go in beating a Bruins team that won the Presidents' Trophy at the end of the regular season.
Montreal knows that Boston lost Game 1 against the Detroit Red Wings in Round 1 and stormed back with four straight wins to win the series and the Habs have personal experience in blowing series leads against the Bruins after they went up 2-0 on them in the Eastern Conference Quarterfinals in 2011 only to lose in seven.
"It's great that we won, but listen, I have played against these guys more than a few times over the past couple of years and in the playoffs. The one thing I can tell you is this is a resilient team," Subban, who scored two goals in Game 1, told NHL.com. "That's not something that you can say about every team, but against these guys I have to give them credit. They always battle back. They always find a way to persevere."
The Bruins were mostly the better team in Game 1 but couldn't seem to solve Montreal netminder Carey Price.
"I think we stay with it. I think after that happens, and like I say you tip your hat to [Price]," forward Jarome Iginla said per NHL.com. "But we feel if we get those same chances and that same net-front presence we'll find ways to get it in."
Price improved to 5-0 in the postseason thus far and made 48 saves on 51 shots to put his goals-against average at 2.28 and his save percentage at .916. Bruins goalie Tuukka Rask gave up his most goals of the playoffs for a single game with four while turning aside 29 shots. He has a 1.52 GAA and a .946 save percentage.
Aside from Subban's two goals, Rene Bourque and Francis Bouillon lit the lamp for Montreal while Reilly Smith, Torey Krug and Johnny Boychuk found the twine for Boston in Game 1.
The Canadiens try to take a 2-0 series lead while the Bruins try to nod things up when they hit the ice at the TD Garden for Game 2 of their Round 2 series as part of the Stanley Cup Playoffs.
