The theory of draft fatigue is the idea that the longer you analyze a prospect the more you start to focus on their faults as opposed to their strengths. This has occurred with many prospects as it is, including Teddy Bridgwater and Jadeveon Clowney to a lesser extent, but now it seems that it is starting to happen to Texas A&M receiver Mike Evans with a week to go before the draft.
Recent reports are that LSU's Odell Beckham Jr. is making a final push to usurp Evans as the draft's second best receiver after Clemson’s Sammy Watkins. Evans is believed to be a sure top 10 pick and the latest mocks have Beckham emerging on the cusp of being in the same company.
One team in particular that is rumored to prefer Beckham to Evans is the Detroit Lions. The Lions are rumored to be looking into a top receiver prospect at No. 10 overall, but with Watkins going in the top three, the Lions will have to settle. Reports have never been too kind when it comes to the Lions and Mike Evans and he has only be slotted to them a handful of times in expert mock drafts, but Beckham is now on their radar.
Cowboys Targeting Johnny Manziel
The interest goes so far for the Lions that when Detroit hosted LSU quarterback Zach Mettenberger, they asked him questions about his teammate to a point where it looked like they weren't interested in Mettenberger at all. This could all be a smokescreen that ends with the Lions taking a defensive player to help their mediocre secondary, but it’s worth noting that a team that prides themselves on throwing the ball sees something in Beckham.
