There continues to be more fallout from the firing of Chivas Guadalajara boss Ricardo La Volpe.
Victor Manuel Vucetich the Favorite To Be the New Manager of Chivas Guadalajara?
Initial reports simply stated inappropriate behavior as the cause for the sacking of the well-traveled manager. The severity of that inappropriate behavior according to the sources of El Universal is physical and sexual assault of Alma Coronado, a female podiatrist for the club. Anonymous players told sources that the normal attire when visiting medical staff is shorts and a shirt.
La Volpe opted for a tight-fitted towel, which he then took off, revealing himself to Coronado.
An official complaint was filed with the office of the state of Jalisco.
Club owner Jorge Vergara appeared on the ESPN Deportes radio show Jorge Ramos y Su Banda and was asked if the alleged incident was physical. Vergara responded, "Yes. There was physical contact there."
He refused to further reveal any details, claiming an on-going investigation as the reason for his silence.
In a press conference with the media, the Goats' owner continued to voice his displeasure and disappointment with La Volpe (h/t to Goal). "Yes, [I was defrauded]. It's difficult to accept, but we have to move forward," Vergara said.
"I'm positive this will pass quickly," he added.
"Chivas is a supporter in women's rights. Obviously, this is something very sensitive and serious. That's why we want to find the qualified people to help us turn on the page [on this incident]."
The club will continue its search for a suitable replacement. Turning the page on these serious allegations, however, will be much harder to accomplish.
