Tonight at 9:30 p.m. ET on TNT the Houston Rockets, the No. 4 seed in the Western Conference, will look to avoid elimination on their home floor tonight when they take on the No. 5 Portland Trailblazers at the Toytoa Center. The Rockets have taken a lot of flak throughout this series for shoddy defense that has allowed the Blazers to shoot 3-pointers at will and provided free passage to LaMarcus Aldridge to score 35.3 points per game. No one can tell whether the results will be there tonight, but the Rockets are promising big effort.
"It's desperation time," Chandler Parsons said. "We don't want our season to end and if we lose that's going to happen. All of our backs are against the wall and we've just got to be a resilient team."
They will need James Harden to step up in a big way, as he's piled up points but done so inefficiently. Harden is 36-of-103 for the series, and has been exposed defensively. Still, the burden falls on him to carry the load on offense.
"We've got to really believe and that's the only way we're going to win it," Rockets center Dwight Howard said. "It starts with myself and James (Harden)."
Portland is eager to close out the series, but that will be difficult on the road. "Houston will show a lot of fight," Portland point guard Damian Lillard said.
"I believe 100 percent that they feel like they can still win the series. It will be hard to put them away. We've got to take it up a level because they will try to keep their season alive."
