The most polarizing debate in the world of football just added a new talking point. This one, however, is in favor of Real Madrid's Cristiano Ronaldo.

In the second leg of the club's UEFA Champions League semifinal tie with Bayern Munich, the reigning FIFA Ballon d'Or winner beat Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer in the 34', extending the club's lead to 3-0. He would score a second in the dying minutes of the match, pushing his total to 16.
Real Madrid would eventually go on to defeat the Bavarian giants 4-0 at the Allianz Arena and 5-0 on aggregate.
The goals carried more implications than that.
Ronaldo's brace currently leaves his goalscoring total of the 2013-14 UEFA Champions League campaign at 16, supplanting the efforts of Barcelona's Lionel Messi. In 2011-12, the Argentine led all Champions League goalscorers with 14. His measured counterpart has once again gotten the better of him.
