Saturday night will be the biggest fight of Marcos "El Chino" Maidana's career, and it will follow what was previously the biggest fight of his career. In December 2013, he stunned boxing by battering Adrien "The Problem" Broner for a unanimous decision win, and forced his way into the Floyd Mayweather Jr. sweepstakes.

Floyd Mayweather compares Marcos Maidana to Canelo Alvarez

Floyd noticed the beating his "little bro" took at the hands of the Argentine, and bypassed Amir Khan to take on Maidana May 3. If anyone thinks Maidana will be nervous going into Saturday's bout they are mistaken-the slugger plans on utilizing the same approach to shock boxing again.

"There's no doubt this is going to be a very difficult fight," Maidana said. "There's no doubt that Floyd has very good defensive skills, but I have a great attack, and that's what I'll use. I have to do the same thing I did with Broner. I have go hard from the get go and attack. I know it's going to be more difficult with a man like Floyd Mayweather."

Sergio Martinez predicts Maidana victory?

Mayweather, typically brash and dismissive of upcoming opponents, has actually given Maidana a bit of respect during the buildup of this bout.

"(Maidana) is an extremely skilled fighter who brings knockout danger to the ring. This is a great fight for me and he deserves the opportunity to see if he can do what 45 others have tried to do before him - beat me," Mayweather said.

However, he has handled straight-ahead fighters with power before. His most sensational knockout victory came against Ricky Hatton, then one of the most popular pugilists in the world.

"Everything in boxing and life is about timing. I'm a fighter that likes to take my time and be smart. Some fighters like to be reckless. You see what happens when fighters are reckless," Mayweather said.
