Somewhere Kobe Bryant's electronic treadmill may have just malfunctioned.

After presiding over the worst season in franchise history, the Orange County Register is reporting the L.A. Lakers have decided to bring back coach Mike D'Antoni for a third season.

Magic Johnson rips Mike D'Antoni

The Lakers finished the season at 27-55 and with star players Bryant and free-agent to be Pau Gasol both insinuating that they no longer had faith playing under D'Antoni or in his uptempo style offense.

"I've never concealed the fact that D'Antoni's style doesn't suit my game," Gasol recently wrote on his website. "I don't know if my decision will be swayed by whether Mike stays or leaves. Obviously, the coach is a very important factor for any team."

Beyond the locker room, keeping D'Antoni also figures to be unpopular with the Lakers fan base, many of whom have not only called for D'Antoni to be fired but for executive vice president of basketball operations Jim Buss to also be removed.

The 36-year-old Bryant recently signed a two-year, $48 million extension with the Lakers, whose roster also includes 11 players whose current contracts end at some point this summer.
