For all the talk about Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook occasionally stepping on one another's toes, at least the two Oklahoma City Thunder stars seem to trust one another.

The same apparently can't be said of all their teammates. Surprisingly, the second-seeded Thunder now trail Memphis 2-1 in their best of seven opening-round Western Conference series and some are speculating a big reason for that is the two stars growing habit of trying to do too much.

Kevin Durant stats off charts without Russell Westbrook

According to CBSSports.com, the pair took well over half of the Thunder's 87 shots in Thursday night's 98-95 Game 3 overtime loss, including eight of the nine the team got off during the extra session.

It's a far cry from the way the Thunder played during their best run of the season, a ten-game winning streak beginning in mid-January during which Durant averaged 37 points and also excelled as a set-up man for his teammates.

But all of that was done with the then-injured Westbrook out of the lineup, begging the question of if the dynamic duo are even what's best for one another. The Thunder front office will leave such pondering to the offseason, right now Zach Randolph, Marc Gasol, Mike Conley and the Memphis Grizzlies have all their attention.
